Garage
I'm very lucky to have a partner who allows and even encourages my bike habit. She's accompanied me on road trips to pick up barely functional bikes and parts of bikes for me to tinker with and rebuild. She's patiently listened late at night as I get excited about a new-old-stock steel frame that I picked up cheap on the Internet. I'm truly lucky. Here's my current garage of mostly rideable machines. There's also a healthy part bin in storage...just in case.
The Workhorse - Trek Domane SL6 Gen 4
This is the bike I ride most often. It represents a marriage of my love of simple two wheeled transportation with my passion for tech and gadgets. It's currenly running Shimano DI2 electronic shifting with a Stages dual sided power meter. It also has the Heart Rate pod I mentioned earlier hidden in it's frame. It's my daily fitness driver.
The no-nonsense "hopeless" basket case - Early 2000's Trek Alpha 2.0
I picked this up from a bike shop in Indiana, near Indianapolis. It was apparently being used as a parts bike. When I found it, it had no chain, no rear mech or cluster, a missing shifter, no cables, a mismatched front mech, and a totally worn out big chainring.
The "Childhood Inspiration" Bike - 1997 Lemond Zurich
When I got into cycling as a teenager, it was mostly because of Greg Lemond. So, being able to restore a bike with his name on it was a dream come true. I built it up from two Zurichs, a new-old-stock bare frame in my correct size and parts from a full bike with a rusted out frame in a size too small. The resulting steel bike with vintage Ultegra group and racing geometry rides like buttah.
